Week 9, June 23 - 29

Wednesday, June 23rd
We'll see how much I can get written here. Ella is in her swing... awake... sucking on a pacifier. Wait... let me go check and make sure that's still true. (pause) She's been lulled to sleep! This is a new development. Well, as of yesterday that is. Yesterday I wanted to take her for a walk so I put her in the swing to entertain her long enough to get ready and before I knew it she was asleep. But not for too long. Still, she didn't scream when I put her in it awake. I guess she's decided it's not such a bad thing after all. I also think I may have found a pacifier she somewhat likes. She still spits it out pretty quick but doesn't fit it like she does the others. I'll keep trying with the swing and the pacifiers. After all, why should my baby have to be the one that's different from all of the other babies? :)

Nope, still not sleeping more than an hour or two on average. In the last week I have had 2 4 hour stretches... one of which was last night. Ella slept in our bed all night. We aren't doing a family bed... at least not purpose. It just happens that way. I will say that not having to get out of bed to feed Ella somehow makes me feel like I'm getting up fewer times a night though she's certainly waking as often as usual.

Wish there was more to share.
Here's a picture of Ella in her swing that I just took:

And here's a movie of her in her swing. Exciting!!

And check out the photo gallery for two other new pictures.

Ella sleeping in her swing is now a regular thing. Though at night she usually just does the first stint or two in the swing before in to the bed with us. It just makes the mornings that much easier for me right now. We feel we've gone over a hump of sorts with her. We know how to fix her when she gets fussy. Thus, we've had a pretty good week. We think she forgot how to fall asleep on her own, so she was getting fussy because she was so tired. She seems to be a much happier baby now.

I think Ella laughed at me a couple of days ago. I had a witness as well. It was sort of a "heh heh heh, heh heh heh". Funny. 'Course she laughs better in her sleep. I heard a pretty good chuckle come out of her early this morning. And Isaac slept right through it.

So far today has gone well, but at 1 we've got her 2 month appointment and she's getting 5 vaccinations, so the rest of the day may not be so good. I'm rather scared actually. One of the top reactions to vaccines is a slight fever... on top of fussiness. I read yesterday that half of all babies have reactions. Let's hope Ella is in the half that doesn't. I will try and post her new stats later today. I'm very interested to see how big she's gotten. Every one says how small she is, but Isaac and I can tell just how much she's grown the last 2 months.
